Chicago Screening: Notre Dame 1916 Documentary The Consulate will host a screening of the Notre Dame documentary, 1916: The Irish Rebellion, in a venue in Chicago. Midwest Regional American Conference for Irish Studies: Exhibition and Lecture The University of Kansas is hosting 2016’s Midwest Regional American Conference for Irish Studies, an annual conference of academics from third-level Irish Studies centers and faculties across the US Midwest. Among other themes, the conference will consider the impact of the 1916 Rising and the issue of commemorations today. Panel Speaker Event The Irish Consulate General and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, a prominent foreign affairs think tank, will host a 2016 commemoration panel discussion event. The speakers, which will include leading commentators from the US and Ireland, will consider the Northern Ireland peace process in the wider context of the 100 years of political history in Ireland since 1916. Chicago Cultural Center Event with the City of Chicago The Consulate General will partner with the City of Chicago to co-host a commemorative event at the City of Chicago’s Cultural Center. This speaker event will also include an exhibition on the 1916 Rising.
